MTB Hallstatt loop through Echerntal valley to Gosau

Stop at Rossalm Gosau for a drink

Went on the gravel bikes across the Echerntal to the Rossalm for a short break. The boss is – as you know it from an alpine pasture – a bold guy with a dry sense of humour.

MTB Hallstatt – Obertraun Loop from Dachsteinhöhlen

Experience one of the most beautiful bike trails in the area, right on the shores of Lake Hallstatt. Start and end your wonderful round around Lake Hallstatt at Obertraun Dachsteinhöhlen train station, which is conveniently located to arrive by train or car. There are plenty of parking spaces available for cars near the station. Enjoy constant highlights throughout your journey, and marvel at the stunning beauty of Lake Hallstatt.

The sun-facing east bank recreational trail creates the best conditions to comfortably ride a bike along the Hallstatt lake. This trail is one the most beautiful bike trail in the area. Its right on the shores of Lake Hallstatt. 


Start and end point of this wonderful round around Lake Hallstatt with constant highlights is Obertraun Dachsteinhöhlen train station. It is ideal for arriving by train or car. Parking spaces are available for cars near the train station. There are also bike rental places around.

After approximately 3 kilometers of riding you will cross a suspension bridge (Hängebrücke in German), one of the tour highlights. Remember when you look into the lake, that it has its greatest depth right here with whole 125 meters.

Then you can enjoy the view of the lake while riding along its shore. After a certain time you will reach beautiful Kurpark in Bad Goisern, where you relax for a few minutes while listening to peaceful sounds of nature…

On the way back you will pass through one of the most beautiful Hallstatt, which offers a lot of history and scenic attractions. See the viewpoints of Hallstatt, you will pass some of them on the way.

Before reaching your destination, you can then enjoy a nice view of Obertraun. At the end you can stop at the beach or go to Seecafe

However, the bike path on the west side of the lake may be too busy and unsafe for children, so you can return from Bad Goisern the same way you arrived.
